Self Portraits and Portraits Preview

Tip #1: Bring Something to Focus On

Tip #2:Set the Timer High and Use Burst

Tip #3: Capture you

Environmental portrait-

I like the way that she is trying to be a part of whats around her and she is enjoying the beauty around her.

I like how everything around them goes with the whole picture and the way they are lined up and they don't even know a picture is being taken.

casual portrait-
I like the way they are just dresses casual and the way they are just hugging out of no where.

I like the way that they don't know a picture is being taken and that their just taking a walk around the grassy area.

formal portrait-

I like the way she is posing  and dressed classy and fancy and looking at the camera.

I like the way he is just sitting in the chair posing all dressed up and getting his picture taken.

photography self -

I like both because they have expressions on their faces and they look so creative on what their doing in their portraits.

I will shoot lydia behind the railings so i could get leading lines and probably by the lockers to get depth and also i would take a picture of her in the court yard for balance elements, also i will take a picture of her by the stairs to get symmetry and patterns and i will position the camera good, make sure my pictures are clear, and make sure to have rules in my pictures to be successful.

The Three Pillars of Exposure: Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed

F2.8

F16

1. What part of the body should we closely relate aperture?
2. Finish this sentence - the smaller the Aperture is focused on one main thing and the more light comes through and the less it focus, the higher the Aperture the less light that comes in and more  depth in field.
3. In your own words tell me how aperture impacts Depth of Field? it effects by the sharpness of the picture that shows

     Shutter speed

  • a.)fast
  • b.) medium
  • c.) slow
  • d.) slow
  • e.) fast
  • f.) fast
  • a.) medium

1). What are the advantages of shooting with a higher ISO setting at a sporting event like a night football game?
you get a better image of the players and other events going on because of the night time.
2). What suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO?
you will get a clearer image and it works better during the day.
3). What suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO?
it is better to use it during the night because it help get a good image.

  • F 4-1/125- background is blurry
  • F5.6 -1/60 sec-background is clearer but still blurry
  • F8-1/60 sec-background is clearer but slight blurry
  • F11-1/30 sec-background is somewhat clear
  • F16-1/15 sec-background is a little clear
  • F22-1/8 sec-background is clear

Finally, what is happening to the subject (the people) at SLOW Shutter Speeds? What could the photographer do to help combat this problem? The subject is getting more blurry the photographer can speed up the shutter speed.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them?
The way he captures the moments and the way that you can see details and patterns

I see  texture in the trees and in the animals i also see the grass swaying and the air rushing past me
i also see a big shadow hovering over the tree
I smell the grass and the nature of the animal i also smell the tree and the bark
I hear the giraffe walking and i hear the tree swaying and i hear the leaves crunching under the giraffes weight
I taste the warm air that floats around me
I feel free when I'm in the wild and i feel happy seeing the wild and i feel in peace when I'm surrounded by trees and animals

Mural Project Preview

1.The color of the school and we could use shirts and maybe sports uniforms

2.because it shows how the school has spirit and the students will be captured by it because it will show different types of shirts and their designs.

3. advantages would be like you could take more photos, you could just press one button and not worry about a lot of other buttons. disadvantages would be the photos would be blurry, photos won't be big enough.

4.advantages would be a clear photos, better zoom in without being blurry. disadvantages would be you can press the wrong button and you could mess the picture up.

5. SLR because it takes better pictures and it has better light

AFRICA

1. when i looked at the presentation i thought that it was really good photos and the animals looked incredible at every angle a photo was taken.
in the photo you see this large tree where a giraffe is taking shelter from the heat and everything else is deserted just the giraffe no other a animals.
It was one of my favorite because i liked the way the tree stood high and how the giraffe stood under it for protection.

4. simplicity looks evident here because of the sky thats bare with no clouds.

5.Andy Biggs
a.   a canon and a nikon
b.     he wanted to capture the beauty of the giraffe
c.    to see how the animals are in there natural habitat
d.     HDR is like riding on a small motorscooter: it is fun, but you don’t want your friends to see you doing it.” ~ Andy Biggs

Academics shoot Reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?
I encounter challenges like not being able to get the exact picture that i wanted with the rule that i wanted and not being able to find a certain rule.

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general did you find yourself thinking about the most?    Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.
Holding the camera at a good angle and taking a picture at that angle. Like when i was in the dance room i had to hold the camera at a certain angle to get the picture that i wanted.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?  I would take a better balance picture and i would position the camera better.

4. What things would you do the same?
I would still do the same angles that i did and take clear pictures

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?
Framing would be the easier to achieve

6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?
Simplicity

7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?
Rule of thirds and i think i can figure it out by just thinking and knowing  the chart and that the subject will go to the right.

Academics shoot

Lines
         1.  I followed the rule by taking the railings of the dance room and positioning them to lead to the dancer.
              2.  The subject is the dancer.
               3. Its pretty clear that the subject is the dancer.
4.It is clear to the people looking at the photo because the lines or in plain site and its leading up to the subject.

 Frame
1.i followed the rule well and the ceiling is framing the picture.
2.the subject would be the rows of computers
3.It should be clear that the subject is the computers
4.its clear to people what the subject should be

Mergers
1.I followed the rule really good
2.the subject is the heads popping out above the bookshelves
3.its clear that the subjects are the heads
4.its pretty clear for people what the subject is.

 Simplicity
1.i followed the rule well.
2.the subject is the girl in the middle.
3.its clear that the what the subject is.
4.its clear to people what the subject is.

Rule of Thirds
1.i followed the rule well.
2.the subject is the girl.
3.its clear that the subject is the girl.
4.its clear to people what the subject should be.

1.i think i did ok with this rule
2.the subject should be the books
3.i don't really think its clear that the subjects are the books
4.i don't think its clear to people what the subject is.
5.i could of gotten a better angle of the book case and i should've cut out the person.

Academics Shoot Preview

BEST STORY
i chose this photo because of how the little girl is telling the blonde girl that she is grateful for whatever she helped with and that the blonde girl is happy and feels great by helping the little girl.
The picture contains simplicity, the background look clear and it is also very balanced.

ACTION OR EMOTION
I chose this picture because of the action that takes place with the pink experiment and she looks serious  like she is concentrated  on the work thats before her eyes.  the picture contains balance with the shape the experiment creates but it also has to avoid mergers because it look like the experiment actually stained her face.

FILLS IN THE FRAME

I chose this picture because of how there is a circle and it goes around forming a frame and theres people doing a lot of things in the pictures.
The picture should avoid mergers and theres framing and balance in all the picture.

Avoiding Mergers

The picture shows two guys being cut out like the guy in the bicycle and they guy by the red post. always avoid mergers.

Framing

the spoke thats emitting from the building and going up, that frames the picture by the spoke that is covering the top.

Balance

While looking at this picture you can see how their arms and the way that they positioned their body make a shape and it shows the way it balances out.

Lines

The lines from the building are going up and leading our view to the plane that is going towards the building and the smoke.

Rules of Thirds

the guy is more towards the side rather than the center and his shadow is also by the side where we can see it and it makes a good picture to present as rules of thirds.

Simplicity

in the picture while the building is in plain sight the background is clear making it easer for the viewer to not get mixed up and just focus on the main part.

Elements of art and principles of design

\
Line

Line  Line    Line
Line- Lines are marks made by a pointed tool: brush, pencil, pen, etc. Lines can vary in width, direction, curvature, length, or color.

i chose this painting because of the way the lines are strong and they create a person showing some kind of betrayal.
I chose this photo because of how the lines are everywhere and the kind of look like they are spiral.

shape- Shapes are formed wherever the ends of a continuous line meet. Geometric shapes such as circles, triangles or squares have perfect, uniform measurements and don't often appear in nature. Organic shapes are associated with things from the natural world, like plants and animals.

I chose this painting because of how the shaped rectangles are shown in the pictures and how they stand out.

I chose this picture because i see how the circles are shown in a row and the shape gives the picture a different feel.

Color- Color wheels show the primary colors, secondary colors, and the tertiary (intermediate) colors. They also show the relationships between complementary colors across from each other, such as blue and orange; and analogous (similar or related) colors next to each other such as yellow, green, and blue. Black and white may be thought of as colors but, in fact, they are not. White light is the presence of all color; black is the absence of reflected light and therefore the absence of color.
I chose this painting because of the way the colors go and blend together and they make the picture unique.

i chose this picture because of how in one side the colors are soft and in the other they are stronger.

Value (Tone)-Value, or tone, refers to dark and light; the value scale refers to black and white with all gradations of gray in between.  Value contrasts help us to see and understand a two-dimensional work of art.
i chose this painting because the way the way the tone goes from darker to lighter in some parts.

I chose this picture because of how it goes from lighter to a stronger color.

Form- Form describes objects that are three-dimensional, having length, width, and height.
I chose this because of how the form of the ball is shown in the painting.

I chose this picture because of how the form of the eye and eyelid are standing out.

Texture- Texture can be rough, bumpy, slick, scratchy, smooth, silky, soft, prickly--the list is endless.  Texture refers to the surface quality, both simulated and actual, of artwork.
I chose this painting because of how the texture in the painting is shown and it shows detail.
I chose this picture because of all the details and texture it shows.

Space-Space refers to distances or areas around, between, or within components of a piece. Space can be positive (white or light) or  negative (black or dark), open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-dimensional or three-dimensional.
I chose this painting because it shows how there so much distance thats emitting from the painting and it looks very open.
I chose this picture because of the dark color it gives off and it loos very opens with space.

Balance-is the comfortable or pleasing arrangement of things in art.  There are three different types of balance: symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial. The human figure is symmetrically balanced; the same on the left and right side. The tree is asymmetrically balanced; its branches are not distributed equally on each side, but their total weight is balanced left and right. The sun is an example of radial balance; all its rays are equal in length from the center.

I chose this painting because in both side it shoes people talking and joking around and it balances out.
I chose this picture because of how the reflection shows in the water and it shows the exact same thing.

Contrast-is created by using elements that conflict with one another. Often, contrast is created using complementary colors or extremely light and dark values. Contrast creates interest in a piece and often draws the eye to certain areas. It is used to make a painting look interesting.

I chose this painting because of who the light colors contrast with the dark strong colors making the painting stand out.
this picture is showing all different kinds of colors contrasting with each other, some are darker than the other colors.

Emphasis-in the focal area of an artwork gives it importance.  An artist may stress some elements of the design over others. The eye of the viewer will focus on the area of emphasis or center of interest first, then take in the rest of the composition.
the painting emphasis the water and the broken land so the views can see whats happening and the it focuses on the people that are on the art.
The picture emphasis  on the big bright orange tree that look alive and well then it focuses on the rest of the dull trees that surround it.

Movement-in an artwork means the artist is taking viewers on a trip through the work by means of lines, edges, shapes, and colors often leading to the focal area.  Movement is a visual flow through the composition. It can be the suggestion of motion in a design as you move from object to object by way of placement and position.  Directional movement can be created with a value pattern. It is with the placement of dark and light areas that you can move your attention through the format.

the painting shows the shapes and different color that it creates and it flows in background with the blue.

Pattern- are made in art when the same shapes or elements are repeated again and again.  Pattern uses the elements of art in planned or random repetitions to enhance surfaces of paintings or sculptures.

The painting shows the squares that create a pattern that goes from black and white.

In the picture the pattern show the shapes going straight up while the others lay down and it continues doing the same thing.

Rhythm-is the repetition of shapes, lines, and forms.  Rhythm is a movement in which some elements recurs regularly.  Like a dance, it will have a flow of objects that will seem to be like the beat of music.

The painting shows how the shapes and the forms repeat and create a cycle that repeats again and again. it has a rhythm.

the pictures shows the colors creating a rhythm and it also shows the shapes of circles.

Unity-means that all elements in an artwork are in harmony.  Unity brings together a composition with similar units.  For example, if your composition was using wavy lines and organic shapes you would stay with those types of lines and not put in even one geometric shape.
i chose this painting because  shows how the elements don't change and it keeps it constant.

I chose this picture because of how the shape stays constant and it doesn't change and it has unity.
